For me as a mid-end consumer, this camera is not a bad choice. In the digital world results are important than what you hear. I've been using Nikon F60, Canon and Pentax analog camera and I found how nice to have a digital camera. The 1000d is more than a digital camera it is just right for your budget. With 10.1 MP and some advanced features with it's big brothers, this camera will give you a good images.
